Award Recognizes the 100 “Most Promising” Asian Companies Driving the Future of Technology

Silicon Valley, CA, Dec 9th, 2008— Red Herring today announced that iYogi is a winner of the Red Herring 100 Award, a selection of the 100 most innovative private technology companies based in Asia.

The Red Herring editorial board diligently surveyed the entrepreneurial scene throughout Asia and identified the top 100 out of more than 1,000 closely evaluated companies that are leading the next wave of innovation.

“Our winners and Finalists demonstrate that Asia is increasingly becoming a leader in innovation, contrary to common stereotypes", said Joel Dreyfuss, editor-in-chief of Red Herring. " It was tough to choose just the top 100 finalists from such a large list of excellent contenders, and we are very happy with the quality of the companies we selected as finalists."

“We believe consumers and small business owners should have low-cost access to the highest quality support available on the planet", said Uday Challu, CEO of iYogi. “We are thrilled that our innovative approach to solving everyday technology problems for consumers and our managed services for small businesses has been recognized by Red Herring’s keen-eyed leadership. We are continuously innovating in adding new services that includes PC recovery, anti-virus, anti-spyware, data back-up and PC optimization in providing the best tech support experience for our customers”, adds Uday.

The 100 winning companies have been announced at the Red Herring Asia event in Hong Kong. The CEOs of the winning start ups presented their innovative ideas and technologies to an audience of leading entrepreneurs, financiers, and corporate strategists at the event at the Hong Kong, JW Marriott Hotel earlier this week.

Time to Switch Browsers?

 Ace Explorer offers a lot for people looking to expand their Internet Explorer needs. Much like the Maxthon browser, it adds a lot of functionality for IE users. Having said this, I’m not convinced that I’m going to be switching back to Internet Explorer anytime soon.

Now this is not to say that looking into a browser overlay like this is a bad thing. Ace Explorer has done good things for people who are simply not interested in moving away from their preferred Internet Explorer, but I’m simply not convinced that dressing up Internet Explorer 6 is going to honestly be enough for most people. IE 7 perhaps, but not so much when considering IE 6's long list of problems and lack of solid updates.

Live Computer Support and Technical Support  is now offered at all hours of the day and night via chat, Remote, Online and over the phone by Microsoft Certified Technicians.

Troubleshooting Ace - The program downloads nothing

Make sure:

  • The files (images) you are trying to download have exactly the same extensions as set in the task properties (check the Image is a option). If you're not sure what type images on a web site are, right-click one and select Properties. A window showing the type of the image appears.
  • The files are not discarded by a filter. The Log Window displays discarded files.
  • If you try to download images (files) from a web site that requires login (e.g. Yahoo! Groups or MSN Groups) make sure that either you created the task from the web browser or logged in on the Login tab.

If Picture Ace reports that it scanned a few web pages but found nothing you should open the main window, select the task in question and look through the Log Window. Usually the cause of the failure can be easily determined from the log records.

If the log records don't show anything useful or you just don't understand what these records are all about, just right-click the Log Window and selectCopy Log onto the Clipboard. Paste it to an e-mail message and send it to us. We will try to find out the cause of the failure ourselves and reply to you as soon as possible.

1) Open the Web Browser Options dialog and check the Add the program button on the Internet Explorer toolbar option (if not checked yet). Click OK.

2) In case you are using Internet Explorer 6.x or higher you may need to enable Picture Ace add-ons first:

  1. Start -> Control Panel-> Internet Options;
  2. Switch to the Advanced tab;
  3. Make sure the "Enable third-party browser extensions" options is enabled;
  4. Switch to the Programs tab;
  5. Click "Manage Add-ons";
  6. Make sure the add-ons named "IADIEHelper class" and "Picture Ace" are enabled, click OK;
  7. Click OK to close the Interent Options window.

3) Open Internet Explorer;

4) Select View -> Toolbars -> Customize... (Customize Toolbar dialog opens);

5) Locate and select the Picture Ace icon in the Available toolbar buttons list;

6) Click the Add-> button

7) Click the Close button. The program button is now on the Internet Explorer toolbar

Saving Other Types of Files

Picture Ace can download any types of files (e.g. zip archives, executables, PDF documents). In this tutorial you will learn how to configure Picture Ace to collect all ZIP files from a web page.

First, you should define a new set of predefined properties. Although you can create a new task without defining a set of predefined properties, but if downloading ZIP files is a fairly frequent procedure for you, it is more convenient to have a predefined properties set.

Select Cars as the current destination folder, then open Picture Ace and select Options -> Predefined Task Properties from the main menu. The Predefined Task Properties dialog opens.

Click the Add button to create a new set of predefined properties. Enter Save all ZIPs as the set name.

Click OK. The Task Properties dialog appears. Switch to the File Type tab and select ZIP Archives in the Select file type(s) to download field.

Click OK. The new set of predefined properties is added to the Predefined properties list. Click OK to apply the changes and close the Predefined Task Properties dialog.

That's it. Now we are ready to pick ZIP files from web pages. This web page contains ZIP-archived pictures of cars. If your web browser is Internet Explorer use the IE button menu to start ZIP-files downloading task.

Another way to start the task is through the IE context menu. Right-click on a blank spot of the web page and select New Task. In the Task Properties dialog select Save all ZIPs in the drop-list box below. Click OK to start the task.

Below there are ZIP-files that Picture Ace will find and download automatically:

BMW pictures ZIP archive 1
BMW pictures ZIP archive 2
BMW pictures ZIP archive 3

In a the same way you can configure the program to download any other file type, just set the correct extension when creating a set of predefined properties.

Saving Image Sequences

Sometimes you know beforehand that a web sites stores images as number sequences. For instance:
http://help.pictureace.com/sample/img001.jpg
http://help.pictureace.com/sample/img002.jpg
http://help.pictureace.com/sample/img003.jpg
etc.

You don't know the web page that refers to these images or there are too many pages to browse them and save the images one by one. That's where Picture Ace comes in handy again.

Suppose we know that there are 10 images at http://help.pictureace.com/sample/ called img.jpg. Let's save them. Select Scenery as the current destination folder and use the IE button menu or the IE context menu to create a new task.

Note that although you could use the tray icon menu or the main program menu to create a new task, it is highly recommended to create new tasks from within the web browser, since that allows Picture Ace to get additional information from the web browser (e.g. cookies) and avoid sign-in issues.

Saving Images and Movies from TGP Sites

Picture Ace includes special features to make picking pictures from TGP sites easier. TGP (Thumbnail Gallery Post) is a web site that provides links to image galleries (mostly adult content).

The most common problem with TGP sites is that they provide too many links and do not sort them by their content. Picking the links you really need can become a very tedious task. That's where Picture Ace helps you: it allows you to discard links you are not interested in.

Note that if you want to save video as well you should change the image type as shown below.

Suppose this is a TGP site. Below there are links to various car picture galleries:

May 11: Ferrari
May 11: Audi
May 11: BMW

May 10: Toyota
May 10: BMW
May 10: Honda
May 10: BMW

First, set Cars as the current destination folder. Then select the Process Links command from the IE button menu or the IE context menu.

The Links Processing dialog appears. The dialog displays all links found on the web page.

The fields at the bottom are for filtering links. Enter BMW in the first field.

Click the Apply to All button. The list now displays only the links that contain BMW in their text.

Picture Ace allows you to apply more than one filter. Let's leave only links of May 10. Enter 10 and click the Apply to Visible button.

After the filter is applied, the list displays only links of May 10.

Now we left only the links we need, we can create tasks to save large pictures behind the links. Click the Create Tasks! button. Picture Ace starts downloading pictures. Note that by default all pictures are downloaded to the current destination folder. You may want to change this to group the pictures by their origin. Use the Destination Folder dialog to do that (e.g. enable the option to create a subfolder for each web site + web page).

To reset the filter clear all the fields and click Apply to All.

You can also save images and video from TGP sites without opening the Links Processing dialog. Alt + click the link to an image gallery or right-click it and select the Save Large Images command from the IE context menu. Picture Ace downloads images from the gallery.
