Destination Folders and File Naming

A destination folder is the folder Picture Ace saves images to. For example, C:\My Pictures or C:\Photos.

Fairly often you need to save images to different folders. Specifying the folder every time you save an image is very tedious work. With Picture Ace you can easily switch between multiple destination folders.

First, we need to define destination folders. Use the Options -> Destination Folder command to open the Destination Folder dialog. This dialog allows you to create, edit and delete destination folders.

Note that you can also configure Picture Ace to create various subfolders during the task execution automatically. The subfolders are created under the selected destination folder.

When Picture Ace is installed for the first time, three sample destination folders are created: Cars, Sky and Scenery. Let's add one more destination folder. If you want to add more folder than you can. For that you have to click on Add button. Then enter Animals or anything you like in the Alias field and C:\Photos\Animals (or any other folder) field in the Folder. Click OK. Note that there is no need to create the folder in Windows Explorer, Picture Ace creates it for you automatically.

Now we have four destination folders. Note that the selected item in the list is the current destination folder. You can save images to different destination folders. Click OK to apply the new destination folders options and close the dialog.

First, make sure the current destination folder is Animals(or anyother name you like). In the tray icon menu and in the IE button menu the current destination folder is checked.

Now save the picture below using the Ctrl + Click combination or the IE context menu (the Save Image command).

Open the current destination folder (Animals) and make sure the picture has been saved successfully. There are four ways to do it: the File -> Open Destination Folder command, the program toolbar, the tray icon menu and the IE button menu.

Note that this dialog allows you to do one of three actions (we have done the first action):

· Create a new destination folder and leave the current destination folder (Animals)

· Create a new destination folder and remove the current destination folder

· Change the folder of the current destination folder

Saving Images in IE-based Browsers

During this tutorial you will learn how to save images with Picture Ace in IE-based browsers (MSN, MyIE2, Avant Browser, etc.). Note that the tutorial applies to Internet Explorer as well. If for some reason you cannot use the methods described in the previous tutorial, the method described here is the way out for you.

Picture Ace makes the process of saving images from the web really easy. Please not that there are several types of images, e.g. photos, drawings. Whenever you save images, make sure you configured Picture Ace to collect the right image type. You can do this using the Image Options dialog or the tray icon.

To save an image actually located on a web page use the Save Image item in the IE context menu.

First save the picture, place the mouse cursor over it, right-click and select the Save Image item.

Right after you select the Save Image item Picture Ace saves the picture to the current destination folder. To view the saved picture, select Open Sky from the tray icon menu.

Note that Picture Ace items in the IE context menu have keyboard shortcut to them. For instance, Save Image item - Z, Save Large Image item - Q, etc. It means that you can press the corresponding key on the keyboard (when the context menu is shown) instead of clicking an item with the mouse.

You can choose what items to show in the context menu in the Web Browser Options dialog.

Saving Images in IE

Picture Ace makes the process of saving images from the web really easy. Please note, that there are several types of images, e.g. photos, drawings. Whenever you save images, make sure you configure Picture Ace to pick the right image type. You can do this using the Image Options dialog, the IE button or the tray icon.

The most convenient way to save images that are actually located on a web page is ctrl + click them. Let's save the picture below: place the mouse cursor over it, press and hold down the Ctrl key, left-click the picture, then release the Ctrl key.

Right after you left-click the picture, Picture Ace saves it to the current destination folder. To view the saved picture, select Open Sky from the menu of the IE button or the tray icon.

Another way to save images is to use the IE context menu. Right-click an image and you will see the standard IE context menu with the Picture Ace submenus at the top and at the bottom of the menu.

Click the Save Image item in the nearest submenu to save the image. Practice this method on the picture below.

You can control the appearance of the Picture Ace context menu items in the Web Browser Options dialog. Below there are some more pictures for you to practice saving images. Use the method you like most.

Setting up the program IE toolbar button

To make the program's button appear on the Internet Explorer toolbar you may need to take additional steps. If the button is already on the toolbar there is no need to do anything.

1) Open the Web Browser Options dialog and check the Add the program button on the Internet Explorer toolbar option (if not checked yet). Click OK.

2) In case you are using Internet Explorer 6.x or higher you may need to enable Picture Ace add-ons first:

1. Start -> Control Panel-> Internet Options;

2. Switch to the Advanced tab;

3. Make sure the "Enable third-party browser extensions" options is enabled;

4. Switch to the Programs tab;

5. Click "Manage Add-ons";

6. Make sure the add-ons named "IADIEHelper class" and "Picture Ace" are enabled, click OK;

7. Click OK to close the Internet Options window.

3) Open Internet Explorer;

4) Select View -> Toolbars -> Customize... (Customize Toolbar dialog opens);

5) Locate and select the Picture Ace icon in the Available toolbar buttons list;

6) Click the Add-> button

7) Click the Close button. The program button is now on the Internet Explorer toolbar
